Teacher Feature: Meet Melissa!
Melissa Massello is a trauma-informed, body positive yoga teacher (RYT-500) and yoga therapy intern (IAYT) as well as a former professional figure skater and wellness editor. Melissa’s classes focus on a therapeutic, functional, and holistic approach to yoga with an emphasis on bringing balance and ease back to the body—especially for those suffering from chronic pain or nervous system dysregulation.
Therapeutic yoga “is a work in, not a workout”. Though we’ll gently move the body and may even build some heat, the goal of therapeutic yoga is to use the Panchamaya Kosha model of yoga therapy to help bring ease and homeostasis or balance back into all five layers of ourselves: our physical body, our breath & vital energy body, our mental & emotional body, our wisdom body, and our bliss body.
Every body is a yoga body! Come home to yourself and slough off the stress of the week at Friday Feels, an accessible, body positive & beginner-friendly therapeutic yoga experience designed by trauma-informed yoga therapy intern Melissa Massello (RYT-500, IAYT). Each week, we’ll give ourselves permission to gently mobilize stress, move it out of the body through various yoga and somatic tools — always including breath & play — then rest our nervous systems while receiving the benefits of halotherapy in the salt room. Simply show up with openness, curiosity & a willingness to Keep Austin Weird.
